What is a dermatologist?
Why choose a dermatologist?

Dermatologists are medical specialists in skin, hair, nail and mucosal (mouth and genital) health, expertly trained to diagnose and treat more than 3,000 conditions, including skin cancer, acne, eczema, psoriasis and other complex skin disorders. After completing a medical degree and several years of hospital experience, dermatologists undertake a minimum of four additional years of accredited specialist training through the Australasian College of Dermatologists (ACD) — the peak medical college accredited by the Australian Medical Council (AMC) to train and certify dermatology specialists. Those who complete this rigorous program earn the title Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists (FACD), reflecting the highest standard of clinical expertise and lifelong professional development.

With their deep understanding of skin biology, dermatologists are uniquely qualified to accurately diagnose and manage complex or similar-looking skin conditions, detect and treat skin cancers, and recognise when a skin concern may signal a deeper internal disease. Dermatologists provide a range of medical, surgical, procedural, aesthetic and cosmetic dermatology services — with patient safety and medical excellence at the forefront.

For trusted advice, expert diagnosis and management of your skin, see a dermatologist, the recognised medical specialists in skin care.

Looking for the best dermatologist in Perth or Western Australia? Our dermatology clinic offers comprehensive dermatological care, led by top-rated specialists in skin check services, skin cancer treatment and general dermatology.
